Happiness as national goal

I am glad that in Parliament yesterday, Ms Sylvia Lim asked the government to “conspicuously focus” on happiness as a national goal. I have made the same point throughout the recent Presidential Election campaign. Most recently, in my congratulatory message to Dr Tony Tan on 28 August 2011, I said that the President must work with the government to put the happiness of all Singaporeans at the heart of every government policy.
